I’ve taken a few pottery classes over the years, but it had been about nine years since I last threw on the wheel. Arezo at Wick and Ceramic is hands-down the best instructor I’ve ever had. She breaks everything down clearly, shows you what common mistakes look like, and then gives you the space to learn by doing. She steps in only when needed, offering just the right tip at the right moment. After just one session with her, I saw amazing results. She’s incredibly skilled, kind, and knowledgeable - I can’t recommend her enough!

My husband and I took a wheel-throwing pottery class together for our wedding anniversary, and we had such a wonderful time! Arezo, who taught the class, was patient, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. She encouraged us to relax and focus on the feel of the clay rather than getting too caught up in the mechanics, which made the class both fun and creative. We highly recommend visiting and giving it a try!

What a great time, having a starter pottery lesson on the wheel. Our instructor's teaching, patience and support made it so enjoyable. Tea & cake to follow added to a very happy experience. Thanks, Arezo!

W&C is a fabulously warm and friendly environment for trying out a pottery and its painting. I've tried the introduction to using the wheel, having never tried this before, and found hilariously good fun (and very messy!), and I even produced some half-way decent results. Give it a go, or give it as a gift!

My daughter and I did a wheel throwing experience last Sunday and we loved every minute. Arezo was a knowledgeable, friendly and very patient (!) instructor and we had great fun whilst learning a lot.

Wick and Ceramic is a little gem - if you haven't been before and fancy indulging your creative side, I would highly recommend it! Prices were really reasonable too.

Have just been to a 'wheel throwing' experience. Think I'm hooked, great experience and very therapeutic. The explanation of what to do was clear and she was very helpful when my pot went a little wobbly!! Would highly recommend it and think it would be great to do with a number of friends, especially the prosecco event! Thank you,

Collapsible content

Do I need any pottery experience?

Not at all! Our Wheel Throwing Experience is designed for complete beginners. You’ll receive step-by-step guidance from our in-house master potter throughout the session.

What will I make during the session?

You’ll create your own pots on the wheel — usually two to three, depending on your pace. At the end, you can choose your favourite piece for glazing and firing.

How long does the session last?

Each session lasts around 90 minutes, which includes a short introduction and demonstration before you get hands-on at the wheel.

What should I wear?

We provide aprons, but we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy — pottery is fun, but clay can be splashy!

Can children take part?

Yes! The experience is suitable for ages 8+, as long as they can comfortably reach and use the wheel with support.

When can I collect my finished pottery?

Your pottery will be ready within 2 weeks, once it has been dried, glazed, and fired in our kiln. We’ll text you as soon as it’s ready to collect.

Can I paint my pots too?

Absolutely! You can return a week later to paint your pots for a small studio fee of £10 each — after which we’ll glaze and fire them again.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes! You can gift this experience to someone special — visit our Gift Voucher page to purchase a Wheel Throwing Experience Gift Voucher.
